Last day of the Garden Plot

Well, today is the final day for our garden plots. Below are some pictures before we cleaned up the area.

I have one little eggplant! I replanted the plant at home, so hopefully this guy will survive. And here's my corn harvest. Not too bad considering.

Garden plot has been all cleaned up and ready for next semesters students.

I replanted all my flowers and veggies at home. Hopefully they'll make it!

My favorite kind of plants.... Carnivorous

Not much going on in the garden but I thought I'd share a video on my favorite types of plants. Enjoy!

If you want to buy some of these awesome plants, I'm selling them next week Thursday 12-7-12 at campus center from 10:00 - 2:00. Prices range from $5-$25! It's for our TPSS Nursery Management class Final :)

Week 13 (11-16-12)

Looks like everything is growing good. I do notice some type of fungi disease growing on the corn. Not sure how to monitor that. Here are some pictures...

Biochar

Week 11 (11-2-12)

This week the garden is growing at a good pace. It was nice to not have a ton of weeding to do. I think this is the first week its been like that. There were quite a few bees hummin about the alyssum and the corn finally got its silk. Hopefully we'll have some good corn to eat soon!

Visual Progress

I was looking back at pictures of the garden plot and I was amazed at how much its changed over the last few weeks. Here are some pictures to get a better idea of what I mean.

Week 10 (10-28-12)

Week 10 (10-26-12)

The garden was teaming with life this week. There were a ton of bees and butterflies. My corn started to tassel and hopefully it'll pollinate some corn as well. Everything is coming along nicely!

Today I fertilized my plot with 200g. of tankage. We'll see if it'll help improve my plants growth or not. Below is a few pictures of the flowers growing along nicely.

Compost Tea
This stuff really works! I use it at home and always see a big difference in my plants.

Week 7 (10-5-12)

Just some plant growth updates. The class also recieved a bunch of flowers since ours didn't germinate. Yay! So I was able to plant a bunch of flowers to make my plot look prettier.

I also brought some pieces of wood from my pomegranate tree to make some borders and a focal piece.

Happy lettuce!

Week 6 (9-28-12)

Some bug damage to the corn, but still nothing dramatic enough to hurt the corn.

Planted some alyssum so that it looks like its flowing out of the pot. I also planted some yellow flowers near the corn. Maybe they'll help keep some of the bugs away?

Week 5 (9-21-12)

Today I spent a lot of time weeding. The weeds are growing like I've never seen before!

Below left: Close up of the corn. A few signs of bug damage, but not nearly as much as the other garden plots.

Week 4 (9-14-12)

Planted my seedlings today. Only the corn and peas germinated for me. There was also some lavendar and lettuce available so I also planted those as well.

Due to the lack of plants to plant, I also changed my plot layout to a spiral looking layout.

Look at all those weeds!!! ^

Week 3 (9-7-12)

Nothing much to report this week. I did pull a few weeds in my garden today, but I still haven't planted anything due to my seedlings not being ready yet. I thought I'd post a few inspirational videos though...
